Today, at CES 2021, Acer has announced the Acer Aspire 7 and Acer Aspire 5 which will be some of the first laptops to launch with the latest AMD Ryzen 5000 series CPUs. More are due to be launched later tonight.
Acer Aspire 7 with AMD Ryzen 5 5500U & Nvidia GTX 1650 GPU
Acer only mentions the AMD Ryzen 5000 series mobile processors, but some Internet sleuthing indicates the CPU used on this new slim and powerful laptop is the AMD Ryzen 5 5500U. This is is the low powered processer compared to the Ryzen 5000H (high-performance) we will see launched on other devices.
As I write this prior to the official announcement, the spec of the CPU seems to be 6cores, 12 threads with a base of 2.10 GHz and boost of 4.00 GHz with all core boost of 3.40 GHz.
The integrated GPU is the AMD Radeon 7 Graphics (Renoir) with a frequency of 1.80 GHz. However, the Aspire 7 comes with a discrete GTX 1650 GPU which has 4GB of GDDR6 SDRAM
Acer Aspire 7
The Acer Aspire 7 weighs 2.15 kg which is reasonably light for a laptop with an FHD 15.6-inch display. The display has an 81.61% screen-to-body ratio, and I believe the dimensions are 36.34 cm x 25.45 cm x 2.325 cm
It also features the latest connectivity, with USB-C for superfast data transfer at up to 5 Gbps. Dual-band Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) improves average network throughput by up to 3 times and reduces latency by up to 75 percent compared to Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac).
Other specs also include 16 GB DDR4 (2 x 8 GB) as standard but up to 32GB and a 1TB1 PCIe SSD
Acer Aspire 7 Price and Availability
The will be priced at £699 in the UK and be available from February. US pricing is $749, and that’s from March
Acer Aspire 5 with options up to Ryzen 7 5700U

- RRP from £429.99 (Ryzen 3)
- RRP from £649.99 (Ryzen 5)
- RRP from £749.99 (Ryzen 7)
In 2020, Amazon Italy put the Acer Aspire 5 A515 with AMD Ryzen 7 5700U page live temporarily, confirming the spec of this model.
