Philips Hue Play gradient lightstrip for PC to synchronise games with RGB lighting  & Lightguide bulbs announced at IFA 2022

Sharing is caring!

It has been ten years since Philips Hue launched its first smart bulb, and they have been the best smart lighting solution ever since.

Today, at IFA 2022, they have announced new products in their ever-expanding smart lighting product range.

Philips Hue Play gradient lightstrip for PC – Synchonisable RGB lighting for gaming

If anything, I am surprised Philips Hue haven’t launched this product before. The Play gradient lightstrip has been a popular product for TVs for a while now, and the Hue Sync for PC app is without a doubt the best way to sync your media and games with a lightstrip. Then, of course, RGB lighting has been a mainstay in PC gaming for years now, and Hue is the ultimate RGB light.

As you’d expect, these are basically smaller versions of the existing products. There are three different sizes a 24/27-inch lightstrip and a 32/34-inch lightstrip for single-monitor setups, and a longer strip designed for a three-monitor setup using 24/27-inch screens.

Philips Hue and CORSAIR have teamed up to give you the ultimate gaming setup and bring your gaming to life with light. You can use CORSAIR iCUE to set scenes on Philips Hue lights in your room or gaming space, synchronising with your CORSAIR RGB gaming peripherals to create the perfect gaming atmosphere.

To keep your immersive entertainment setup simple and user-friendly, whether gaming or simply watching the TV, the current sync box mobile app will be merged with the Hue app in Q4 2022. The merge of the Philips Hue sync app into the main Hue app means users can start and complete their full entertainment flow, all in one place. The Hue app is the new home for creating entertainment areas, setting up the sync box, controlling the sync box, or enabling features such as voice and IR control for the sync box. The sync mobile app – the separate app that controls the sync box – will be phased out from app stores.

Philips Hue Lightguide bulbs

Yes, that’s right, more bulbs!

This time, Philips Hue has developed a set of decorative bulbs they call Lightguide. These come in three shapes:  large globe, ellipse, and triangular, then the LED/filament is the Lightguide part which is a LED tube that diffuses light in any colour, and the reflective finish on the bulb enhances the overall effect.

Lightguide bulbs are designed to be a statement piece that will complement the decor of any modern home and blend seamlessly with any of your favourite Philips Hue light scenes.

Lightguide bulbs can be matched with their very own specially designed pendant cord and metal holder. Sold separately, the fabric-wrapped cord and holder are available in black or white.

Less exciting, but probably with wider appeal, is the new vintage-style Philips Hue Filament candle bulb will be available in White ambiance, making it possible to choose from thousands of shades of dimmable warm-to-cool light.
