This morning Xiaomi took the lid off their latest flagship phones the Xiaomi Mi 10 series during a live stream launch.

Many of the details have already been leaked so the launch event provided confirmation and pricing. Xiaomi also adopted the trend of comparing their phone to their competitors. The Huawei Mate 30 Pro 5G seemed to be their main focus, I personally find it very cringeworthy, but this is a tactic employed by Huawei themselves, so I guess in this case it is bittersweet.

Prices

The standard Xiaomi Mi 10 will be available from 3999 CNY which converts to £443 the Xiaomi Mi 9 launched at 2999 CNY or £333. The Mi 9 launched in the UK for around £499 so I would exect UK pricing to be around £599 at launch, if not more.

The Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro will launch for 4999 CNY which is £552 so maybe £699 by the time it lands on our shores. This will include 8GB of RAM and 256GB storage.

Xiaomi Mi 10

Both phones feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 and therefore include 5G as standard.

This will launch with a base model of 8GB LPDDR5 RAM and 128GB UFS3.0 storage.

For the display, you get an AMOLED display running at 90Hz 180Hz touch-sensing that is capable of HDR10+

This includes an impressive large 4780mAh battery with 30W charge. Last year the Mi 9 had just 3300 mAh which was its biggest flaw.

For the camera, you get a triple-lens set up with

  • 108 MP, f/1.8, (wide), PDAF, Laser AF, OIS
  • 13 MP ultrawide
  • 2MP macro lens
  • 2MP TOD depth sensor

Then on the front is a 20MP lens.

The phone will also feature Wi-Fi 6 will complement the Xiaomi Me AIoT AX3600 Wi-Fi 6 router also announced.

Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro

This has the same chipset and base RAM and storage configuration as the Xiaomi Mi 10 but upgrades many of the other aspects.

This phone will feature a 6.67 inch AMOLED display running at 90hz and 180Hz touch-sensing. The display can go to 1200nits of brightness with a 5million to 1 contrast ratio.

For the camera you get an impressive four lens arrangement with:

  • 108 MP, f/1.8, (wide), PDAF, Laser AF, OIS
  • 12 MP, f/2.2, 54mm (telephoto), 1/3.6″, 1.0µm, PDAF, Laser AF, 2x optical zoom
  • 16 MP, f/2.2, 13mm (ultrawide), 1/3.0″, 1.0µm, PDAF, Laser AF
  • 5 MP depth sensor

Then on the front you get a 20MP selfie.

Xiaomi state that this has achieved a DXOMARK score of 124 putting it at the top of the charts ahead of the Huawei Mate 30 Pro 5G

Unfortunately, the earlier leaks of a 5000mAh batter turned out to be inaccurate and this model drops the size slightly down to 4500mAh, which is still impressive. You do however get 50W fast charging, and when I used the 50W charger on the Realme X2 Pro, it was phenomenal. This is them combined with a 30W wireless charger, which is faster than most phones can do on wired.
