TerraMaster, a leading manufacturer of network attached storage (NAS) devices, has launched its most advanced 4-bay NAS to date – the F4-424 Pro. The new flagship model promises significant performance and feature upgrades over previous generations, aiming to be the ultimate all-around NAS solution for home users and businesses alike.
Major Upgrades Across the Board
The F4-424 Pro stands out with its powerful 8-core Intel Core i3 processor, integrated UHD graphics, and generous 32GB of DDR5 RAM. This hardware combo enables up to 40% faster overall performance versus the previous 423 series, as per TerraMaster’s estimates.
Specific use cases that should benefit include:

The abundant RAM and capable Core i3 also provide plenty of horsepower for running virtual machines and dockerized apps on the NAS.
On the network side, the F4-424 Pro sports not one but two 2.5GbE ports. Using link aggregation, it can hit speeds up to 5Gbps when transferring data across a compatible network. There are also two USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports with 10Gbps bandwidth, making the NAS ideal as a fast external drive for connecting devices.
Rounding out the hardware are two M.2 NVMe SSD slots for caching, which further accelerate performance. TerraMaster has designed a convenient slide-out SSD installation bracket for easy access.
Software and Features
The F4-424 Pro runs TerraMaster’s TOS 5 operating system out of the box, and will be eligible for a free upgrade to the upcoming TOS 6. Management and monitoring functions are said to be intuitive through the browser-based interface.
On the backup front, the NAS supports centralized backup, cloud sync, snapshots, and more to keep data redundant and safe from disasters. It also enables configuring RAID 0/1/5/6/10 and JBOD disk arrays for the right balance of capacity, speed and protection.
For home users, the F4-424 Pro can serve as a full-featured media server and downloader thanks to its transcoding capabilities and app ecosystem. For businesses, it brings virtualization, docker support, and enterprise-grade features at an attractive price point compared to traditional SAN/NAS appliances.
Lower Costs Across Product Stack
Alongside the flagship F4-424 Pro, TerraMaster also launched the F4-424 non-pro and F2-424 models. These lower-end variants still represent a generational jump over the 423 series but at more affordable pricing.
The standard F4-424 has a Celeron N5105 quad-core processor and 8GB RAM. The F2-424 comes in a compact 2-bay form factor with the same internal specs. Both utilize regular Gigabit Ethernet but retain most of the F4-424 Pro’s features otherwise.
Wider Availability Incoming
The TerraMaster 424 lineup is currently on sale in the United States and select European countries. The vendor expects global availability within 2023 as stock ramps up.
