MediaTek has launched their latest chipsets, following the now-familiar pattern of minor changes to existing hardware.

A relatively generic press release has been distributed, so some of the exact specifications remain unclear.

MediaTek Dimensity 920 vs 900

The MediaTek Dimensity 920 is fabricated on a 6nm manufacturing node and offers a claimed 9% boost in gaming performance compared to the Dimensity 900.

The chipset has an octa-core CPU, with two ARM Cortex-A78 cores clocked at up to 2.5GHz then six Arm Cortex-A55 @ 2.0GHz.

The Dimensity 900 has 2x Arm Cortex-A78 up to 2.4GHz and 6x Arm Cortex-A55 up to 2GHz. So you are getting a 4% increase in CPU frequency on the A78 cores.

Both chipsets have the ARM Mali-G68, but neither chipset has the frequency reported.

MediaTek Dimensity 810 vs 800

The MediaTek Dimensity 810 is also just a tweaked chipset but offers a bit more of a change.

It uses the 6nm fabrication process whereas the Dimensity 800 use the 7 nm process. You then have  4x ARM Cortex-A76 cores clocked at up to 2.4GHz, and 4x ARM Cortex-A55 cores clocked at up to 2GHz.

In comparison, the Dimensity 800 had 4x ARM Cortex-A76 @ 2GHz and  4x ARM Cortex-A55 @2GHz. So a bit more of a boose with this one with a relatively impressive 20% improvement in the freaquencies of the A76 cores.

Again, both chipsets have the ARM Mali-G57 MC4 with undisclosed frequencies.

The Dimensity 810 also now supports 20Hz displays for an ultra-smooth user experience.

The new MediaTek Dimensity 920 and Dimensity 810 will power 5G smartphones that are expected to launch in the global market in Q3 2021.
