It is likely Samsung will be the first company to launch a Snapdragon 855 phone in the western markets, but for China, Lenovo has beaten them to the punch.

The announcement of the Z5 Pro is a bit of an odd one because there are two versions, the normal Z5 Pro and the GT version. This isn’t something particularly new in the phone world but the difference between these two phone sis what is strange.

With the normal model, you get a Snapdragon 710 powering the device, whereas the GT model comes with the brand new flagship from Qualcomm, the Snapdragon 855.

The outside both units seemingly look pretty much the same and overall share the large majority of hardware specifications between them.

The regular version only comes in a 6GB RAM configuration in either 64GB or 128GB storage variants, while the GT version also offers 6GB or 8GB options that come with the 128GB storage variant and additionally has an 8GB/256GB version.

Lenovo has designed a very attractive phone, omitting the notch in favour of the new sliding design we have seen on a few phones this year.

The 6.39” 2340×1080 Samsung AMOLED is suspiciously similar to the Honor Magic 2 and Xiaomi Mi MIX 3 phones, and quite likely the same panel used

The Z5 Pro offers two front cameras and two rear cameras. The two front units come with a configuration of a regular 16MP sensor as well as an 8MP infra-red unit.

The rear units consists of two Sony sensors, one 24.8MP IMX576 and one 16MP IMX519. The battery is a relatively normal 3350mAh.

Lenovo will start offering pre-orders on the 20th of December and promises delivery within 7 days.
