Best Fingerprint Door Locks for 2025 – Compatible with UK multi-point door locks
I have been a big fan of smart door locks for several years now. The Yale Linus was the first lock that I committed to using full-time. I later fitted the Ultion Smart Lock on my back door.
More recently, I switched to the Aqara Smart Lock U200 for my front door and the SwitchBot Lock Pro, and I love them both due to their quick and reliable fingerprint unlocking.
So, what are the best door locks on the market that allow you to unlock your door with your fingerprint?
Door locks with a fingerprint/pin code accessory.
Smart door locks come in a variety of styles. The four models below work a bit like smart key turners and allow you to continue using your mechanical key as a backup. This is my preferred door lock because it provides some reassurance that you will always be able to enter your home even if the battery dies or something else fails on the lock. With all of these options, there is a fingerprint and/or pin code accessory you can pair with it.
Aqara Smart Lock U200

I reviewed the Aqara Smart Lock U200 back in July of this year, and I love it. I already use Aqara extensively, so it made sense to move as much as possible into one app/brand. The lock itself is Bluetooth, but it can be paired up with the Aqara Hub M3 using Matter over Thread giving you increased functionality and remote control functions.
The lock comes with an accessory that allows you to unlock it with your fingerprint, NFC card, or pin code. It is this that really won me over, the fingerprint scanner is accurate and fast. With my Linus, I continued to use my key as I found that faster, but I have given up using my key with the Aqara as there is no need for it.
SwitchBot Lock Pro

I reviewed the SwitchBot Lock Pro shortly after the Aqara and was equally impressed with it. I actually prefer the locking function of the Switchbot, but I think I prefer the fingerprint sensor on the Aqara. However, both are superb.
Nuki Smart

I reviewed the Nuki Smart Lock 2.0 back in 2019 but didn’t commit to using it as I struggled to get it to mount on top of my door handle properly. Nuki has improved a lot over the years and they are not on their 4th generation with a standard model and a Pro model. The Pro model includes WiFi and a Nuki power pack, and both lock us Matter.
Nuki are also launching a new Smart Lock Ultra which claims to be a third of the size of the previous model and much quicker at unlocking doors.
You can then pair up your Nuki Smart lock with a Keypad 2 (£145) or Keypad 2 Pro (£309) to gain fingerprint and pin code unlocking functionality.
Yale Linus Smart Lock

The Yale Linus was the first smart lock I felt comfortable using full time and it worked great for a few years. When I reviewed it, I used the Yale Smart Keypad, which cost £45 and did not have a fingerprint scanner. It worked OK but wasn’t the most responsive.
The Linus I reviewed has now been replaced with the L2, which has bult in WiFi as well as Bluetooth. This also has the option for the Yale Smart Keypad 2 for £110 which has a fingerprint scanner.

I am in the process of trying to review the Era door handle. This is different from my other recommendations as it replaces all the hardware on your door, and it is a more attractive installation as you don’t have an ugly device mounted onto your door handle.
Additionally, with it being fully integrated, it has a slimmer profile than most locks, so it can be installed on more doors than some.
It has too big a drawback, though. First of all, it does not fit on many doors without some drilling. With my door, I will need at least one more hole drilling through the UPVC for the upper mounting point.
Secondly, this has no key at all. It overcomes the concerns of a dead battery with an emergency 9V connector at the base. While that is welcome, USB-C would have been preferred, or a backup mechanical key.

I have had the Welock on my garage/gym door for the past few months. It works well enough. The main reason for me using it is that I have French doors that open outwards, and locks like the Aqara and SwitchBot are too wide to fit (the Era should fit perfectly).
That being said, it is not my favourite. I don’t like the app, and the overall experience isn’t as good as Aqara/Switchbot.

I haven’t used this lock, so I can’t comment on how good it is in real life, but it is potentially a better option than the Era as it also has a PIN code pad built in. Additionally, it has a small keyhole in the base for an emergency key, which I think is more appealing than relying on a 9V battery for backup power.
