New details of AMD Navi 20 have been revealed in a YouTube video by RedGamingTech which adds more fuel to the AMD Navi hype.

The main news is regarding AMD Navi 20, which are the high-end cards that will not be released until 2020, whereas the Navi 10 cards are expected this year.

These new cards will likely have support for some form out Ray Tracing, albeit with a different name. Crytek recently demoed their first ray tracing demo based on their CRYENGINE on an AMD Radeon RX Vega 56 graphics card, so it is not unreasonable to assume this is an accurate piece of information.

This could likely be another FreeSync/G-Sync scenario with AMD adopting open-source ray tracing feature support.

It is also said that the internal ray tracing performance estimates look really good and AMD Navi 20 GPUs may end up being competitive or even faster than the competing NVIDIA GeForce RTX cards. This is one part of the rumour I would take with a pinch of salt.

Even if the new AMD parts do outperform the equivalent NVIDIA, they are still coming out over a year later.

AMD Navi GPUs may introduce features such as Variable Rate Shading which would be available across the Navi architecture. We have also seen various reports which indicate that Navi GPUs would be the underlying graphics architecture of next-generation consoles from Sony and Microsoft

At the moment the new about the Graphics Core Next (GCN) achitecture is that Raja Koduri, AMD’s ex-head of Radeon Technologies Group, was tasked with fixing the many of the weaknesses in the GCN architecture, which should roll out with the Navi 10 cards.
