Realme will launch their new MagDart charging solution on 3rd August, making them the first brand to introduce magnetic charging to Android phones.

The name is shamelessly similar to Magsafe, while it was inevitable that magnetic charging would come to Android (a bit like wireless charging eventually came to Apple), it would have been preferable if they didn’t make it such a blatant copy.

Regardless, it is a welcome addition to the world of Android. You will, of course, need a MagDart compatible phone, this is likely to come in the form of the Realme Flash, which has been leaked recently.

This is expected to be a flagship phone running a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset with 12GB RAM and 256GB of internal storage along with a triple camera of unknown specification.

The MagDart is likely to come in two forms, one slim model very similar to the Apple counterpart and offering 15W charging.

There is then a 2nd model that has been leaked, which is much thicker. This appears to have active cooling and will likely offer much faster charging. An alternative could be a small battery pack
