MediaTek has announced the release of its latest flagship mobile chip, the Dimensity 9300+. This new System-on-Chip (SoC) is designed to enhance the performance of high-end smartphones, with a particular focus on accelerating on-device generative AI processing and supporting larger language models (LLMs).

The Dimensity 9300+ is built on TSMC’s 3rd generation 4nm process and features an All-Big-Core design. This architecture includes one Arm Cortex-X4 core running at up to 3.4 GHz, three additional Cortex-X4 cores, and four Cortex-A720 cores. The combination of these high-performance cores enables the Dimensity 9300+ to deliver exceptional processing power for demanding applications.

One of the key features of the Dimensity 9300+ is its enhanced AI processing capabilities, thanks to MediaTek’s new NeuroPilot Speculative Decode Acceleration technology. This technology is integrated into the company’s latest generative AI engine, the APU 790, which allows the Dimensity 9300+ to support LLMs with 1B, 7B, and 13B parameters, with scalability up to 33B.

The NeuroPilot Speculative Decode Acceleration enables the Dimensity 9300+ to run LLMs with seven billion parameters at an impressive rate of 22 tokens per second. This is more than twice the speed of competitive mass-market solutions, ensuring that users can experience fast and efficient AI processing on their devices.

Immersive Gaming with 2nd Generation Hardware Raytracing

In addition to its AI capabilities, the Dimensity 9300+ also boasts advanced gaming features. The chip integrates a 2nd generation hardware raytracing engine with an Arm Immortalis-G720 GPU, allowing gamers to enjoy fast raytracing experiences at a smooth 60 frames per second (FPS) and console-grade global illumination effects.

MediaTek’s latest HyperEngine technologies further enhance the gaming experience on devices powered by the Dimensity 9300+. The MediaTek Adaptive Gaming Technology (MAGT) offers improved power efficiency when enabled in popular game titles, helping to extend battery life and prevent devices from overheating. The chip also features HyperEngine’s new Network Observation System (NOS), which improves WiFi/Cellular dual-network concurrency and utilizes precise network prediction technology. The Imagiq 990 features a built-in AI Semantic Analysis Video Engine that supports advanced AI videography features, such as 16 scene segmentation with real-time video capture. This helps to reduce noise, increase brightness, and enhance colours in video footage.

Furthermore, the Dimensity 9300+ integrates MediaTek’s MiraVision 990, which includes advanced AI depth engine technologies to enhance the visual quality of smartphone content.

The chip also supports the latest LLMs, including 01.AI Yi-Nano, Alibaba Cloud Qwen, Baichuan AI, ERNIE3.5-SE, Google Gemini Nano, and Meta Llama 2 and Llama 3. Additionally, the Dimensity 9300+ offers ExecuTorch Delegation for ecosystem deployed on-device inferencing.

To ensure users can enjoy fast and reliable connectivity in various scenarios, the Dimensity 9300+ includes a 5G R16 modem designed with AI situational awareness. The modem supports 4CC-CA Sub-6GHz with up to 7Gbps downlink, providing users with high-speed internet access on their devices.
