I was pleasantly surprised with the Black Shark 2 when I reviewed it last year, at the time it was one of the most affordable Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 phones on the market and offered a variety of gaming features as well as dedicated accessories to improve your gaming experience.
This was subsequently followed by the Black Shark 2 Pro which bumped up the processor to the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 855+ while still offering an attractive price point, especially for a gaming focussed phone.
Now Black Shark plan on launching their 3rd generation of the phone which will officially launch in China on the 3rd of March.
Black Shark has launched a teaser poster for the phone which shows it has a 270Hz touch sampling rate which the original Black Shark 2 also had.
The company has also states that the single-finger touch response delay is as low as 24ms while the multi-finger touch response delay is as low as 28ms. This is aimed at giving users a better gaming experience.
The phone will undoubtedly feature the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC, and it is likely to have LPDDR5 RAM, and UFS 3.0 flash storage.
Black Shark 3 Geekbench & 3C certifications
Recent Geekbench and 3C listings appear to reveal some key specifications, including two variants being launched, the standard and Pro model.
The 3C authority of China shows two phone models, the KLE-A0 and MBU-A0 which are both 5G phones equipped with MDY-11-EF/EB charger that supports 65W rapid charging.
The Geekbench 5 listing of the MBU-A0 smartphone reveals that it scored 901 points in the single-core test and 3,015 points in the multi-core test.
It is claimed that the phone will have a massive 5,000mAh battery that has more than 800 charge cycles and the 65W fast charging is capable of fully charging in about 38 minutes.
Last year the Black Shark 2 shared many of the hardware specs of the Xiaomi Mi 9. Black Shark is not owned by Xiaomi, but they are backed by them and they almost certainly share a lot of their hardware.
So it will be interesting to see how much different the Black Shark 3 is compared to the recently launched Xiaomi Mi 10. Last year they shared a similar camera specification but the Black Shark 2 lacked the ultrawide lens. I am not too sure if Xiaomi will be willing to share their 108 MP lens which they developed in conjunction with Samsung.
