With energy prices soaring and the weather cooling, many of us will be looking at ways to warm up our homes in the coming months. Thankfully, October was mild, and I have only just conceded to putting my heating on.
If you have gas heating I have covered smart thermostats before. Companies such as Genius Hub and Tado both have smart thermostatic radiator valves which allow you to warm up different parts of your home at different times, saving quite a lot on energy bills.
I have also reviewed a WiFi controlled electric heater before and I wanted to see what other options there are for people that may want some smart control over home heating.
To preface my recommendations, a lot of these heaters will be more expensive than their not-smart counterparts, so there is no guarantee they will save your money overall. However, setting up schedules for them to go on and off only when needed should in theory save you money in the long run.

The Devola smart electric heaters come in a close second for reviews being the Wärme. It looks like the physical hardware is identical and these two companies are most likely using whitelabel heaters customised to their needs/branding.
You have different size options and pricing is a little cheaper than the Wärme, so this could be a better buy overall.

Not as attractive as the glass panel heater but it is cheaper and has higher power rated options. The product specification also indicates this has open window detection which will help save you more money.

- White or black colour options
This option comes in both white and black giving you a bit more flexibility. I think I’d prefer a white heater against my light walls. It uses the TuyaSmart WiFi app for control which is used with many affordable Chinese smart home devices and I have found it to be quite good in the past, often better than when companies try and make an app themselves.

This is heater may not offer the best value for money but it looks attractive, as far as electric heaters can. This appears to use a bespoke app and the images seem to indicate an excellent level of control for heating, but like my Genius Hub system.

Not quite as powerful as some of the others, but for under £100 it appears to offer excellent value for money and is well-reviewed. It is worth noting that while this may have fewer reviews than others, it has a very low percentage of 1 and 2-star reviews.

This is about the only oil-filled option I could find that has some decent reviews. Quite ugly compared to the panel options, but these tend to be a good option as temporary solutions that you may move around the home. Oil radiators are often regarded as being more efficient than panel heaters, they take longer to warm up but slower to cool down.
For under £100 and with 2.5Kw output, it is a bit of a bargain.

There are no reviews of these and they are certainly not cheap but these are designed to be like proper radiators. Being oil-filled they work in a similar manner, they take a while to heat up but are also slow to cool down and they work well when used for longer periods vs the short blast you may have from a panel heater.

Fan heaters are good for getting a quick blast of heat on, particularly cold days. The oscillating heater switches to 1800 W to quickly heat up the room and it drops the power to 900 W when it approaches the target temperature.
