A few years ago, I reviewed the Choetech MFi Apple wireless charger and gave it to my partner to use in her office. Everyone in the office uses it, and they all absolutely love it.

With a growing number of people having multiple devices that charge wirelessly, the demand for these multi-device charging stands is always increasing, as are the options available to buy.

Design

The main selling point of this 3-in-1 charger is that it can be packed down into a nice flat and portable size that you can lot easily into a bag. This makes it perfect for when you travel and reduces the number of dedicated chargers you need to carry with you.

The Apple Watch charger has a push-in/out spring mechanism, which feels reassuringly sturdy.

Then the AirPods charging mat is located on the back of the charger, which then gets covered up when you flatten the charger.

With the charger fully flat, you can still use the phone part of the charger.

In-Use

This charger doesn’t come with a plug, just the USB-C cable. You will therefore need a power delivery plug that is capable of at least 18W (9V/3A) or, ideally, 30W (12V/2.5A). You can pick up small 30W USB-C chargers for as little as £10 on Amazon.

While I don’t personally use any Apple devices, my partner has an iPhone and AirPods. When I accepted this review sample, I forgot that my partner had switched from an Apple Watch to Garmin.

I ended up testing this with multiple devices, it is a QI charger, so it should work with any wireless charging phone or earbuds.

For phones, this worked with all the devices I tested with. For none Apple devices, it may reduce the charge speed down to 7.5W. I am not personally bothered by this as I use wireless charging to keep my device topped up while I am at my desk, or I’d use it for overnight charging when travelling.

With the Honor Magic5 Pro, even though the camera bump got in the way, it still took the charge with no problem.

When it comes to charging earbuds that are not AirPods, the charging mat should work fine, but due to the angle of the phone charger, it may get in the way of the case, depending on how large it is. I tried the Jabra Elite 5, 1More EVO and the Anker Soundcore Liberty 4. All worked, but the Soundcore Liberty 4 only just fitted on the mat properly.

While there is not much benefit to charging your phone with the charger in the flat position, this can then be used to charge other devices. For me, I tried two electric toothbrushes, the Planck O1 and the Oclean Elite. The Planck didn’t work because it has a slight indent where the QI contact point is, but the Oclean Elite worked perfectly. The orange STM logo is perfectly positioned for the QI contact point.

Price and Alternative Options

STM ChargeTree Go - Portable 3-in-1 Wireless Charging... STM ChargeTree Go - Portable 3-in-1 Wireless Charging... No ratings yet £49.99Amazon Prime

The STM ChargeTree Go has an RRP of £99.95, but it doesn’t appear to have ever been sold at that price. At the time of writing, it is £70 and was previously around £55.

The STM Goods ChargeTree Swing is almost the same, but the charger can’t be flattened, which makes it inconvenient for travel. This is priced at around £50.

There are plenty of options from other brands:

Anker 533 Magnetic Wireless Charging Station is around £50 and requires a Magsafe-equipped phone from Apple.

The JoyGeek 3-in-1 Foldable Wireless Charging Station has a flat pack design but is a bit ugly. However, it only costs around £34.

The GEEKERA 3-in-1 has the most reviews on Amazon, though some mixed reviews. It doesn’t flatten, but it only costs £34, and it includes a plug.

Overall

The STM ChargeTree Go is an excellent 3-in-1 multi-charger that works well with the Apple ecosystem of devices and many other brands.

The main reason to buy this over the many other products is that it can be flatted and reduced in size, making it perfect for travel. One big plus point for me is when the charger is flat, I can charge my toothbrush as well.

I wouldn’t pay for this at the RRP, but it looks like it is rarely sold for this much. At the current pricing of £70, it is perhaps a bit too expensive for my tastes, but I’d gladly spend £50-60 on it, and this has been the price on Amazon for the majority of the past 6 months.
