Design

Journey Axie 3 in 1 Global Wall Charger pouch 1

The Journey Axie sports a sleek, minimalist design with a matte black finish. The power bank feels solid and well-constructed. On one side, there are two USB-C ports, a power button, and four LED indicators for battery level. The opposite side features a recessed area for the interchangeable plugs, which attach securely with a satisfying click. The top of the device houses the wireless charging pad, demarcated by a subtle ring.

The included travel plugs cover most countries; the two-pin US and EU plugs are used in many other countries, including Asia.

The USB-C cable is a nice addition, as it can be used to charge the power bank and connect devices. I think I would have preferred it if the cable had been fully integrated into the power bank as this would have made sure I didn’t mislay the cable.

The included travel pouch is a thoughtful touch, providing a convenient way to keep all the components together.

Wireless Charging & MagSafe

The Journey Axie supports Qi wireless charging up to 15W, which is sufficient for most smartphones. It also features MagSafe compatibility, allowing it to align perfectly with iPhone 12 and newer models.

In testing, the wireless charging worked reliably, though the magnetic attachment could be stronger. When using it with my S24 Ultra and the

Non-MagSafe devices may slide off if bumped.

Wired Charging

The dual USB-C ports offer a combined 20W output, which is adequate for charging most smartphones and tablets. However, it falls short of the higher wattages needed for laptops and other power-hungry devices. Testing with an Honor Magic6 Pro and a Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra showed consistent charging speeds in line with the specified output. The power bank itself can be recharged quickly thanks to its 20V/1.75A input, going from empty to full in about 2.5 hours.

Convenience

The Journey Axie’s all-in-one design is its strongest selling point. Having a power bank, wireless charger, and universal travel adapter in a single compact device is incredibly convenient for frequent travellers. It eliminates the need to carry multiple chargers and adapters, saving space and reducing clutter in your luggage. The included travel pouch makes it easy to keep everything organised and accessible.

Price and Alternative Options

The Journey Axie is currently listed at £100, and at the time of writing, there is a 20% off voucher available.

Anker has the MagGo Power Bank (10K) for £90. It has a smaller form factor, but the USB-C output is only 27W, and it requires a separate USB plug for charging.

The older Anker 633 Magnetic Power Bank is just £40, but again doesn’t include a plug.

The Volare Universal Fast Charging Power Bank is £60. It has QI charging but lacks the MagSafe feature, and it has two built-in USB-C and Lightning cables.

Overall

The Journey Axie is a handy gadget to have if you travel a lot, but you pay a premium for the convenience.

For example, you can pick up a universal travel adaptor that has USB-C outputs for £15 for a basic model or £30 for a model with 70W PD output, and then the Anker 633 Magnetic Power Bank is just £40. This would provide a superior charging solution but with the added bulk of separate devices.

I would have preferred it if the USB-C output was better. At this price, it would have been nice to have up to 65W output so this can be used for emergency power for a laptop. The magnetism on the wireless charger could also be stronger.

Overall, the Journey Axie 3-in-1 Global Wall Charger & 10k mAh Power Bank is a well-executed product that delivers on its promise of convenience and portability. While it may not be the most cost-effective or high-performance option available, its unique blend of features and sleek design make it a compelling choice for a specific subset of users. If you value all-in-one functionality and are willing to pay a premium for it, the Journey Axie is worth considering.
