Realme have committed to only launch 5G phones in the Chinese market, and the launch of the MediaTek Dimensity 720 allows them to achieve this commitment while continuing to offer affordable phones.

The Realme V5 is set to launch on the 3rd of August in China, introducing a new series of affordable 5G phones.

The phone has now been run through the popular benchmarking tool Antutu, and the results are impressive.

With a score of 301,380, it doesn’t fall that far behind the more expensive Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G

Mediatek Dimensity 720 vs Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G Specification

The Mediatek Dimensity 720 shifts away from the 4×4 design of its bigger brothers adopting a 2×6 CPU design similar to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G (Qualcomm is technically 1x1x6)

Both chipsets use a combination of Arm Cortex A76 core and A55. Qualcomm offers superior frequencies on its A76 cores with 2.4Ghz on the Prime core and 2.3Ghz on the Gold vs 2.0GHz for the Dimensity 720.

However, for the smaller A55 cores, the Dimensity 720 has 2.0Ghz vs 1.8Ghz of the Qualcomm.

It is harder to compare the GPU because Qualcomm use their own Adreno 620, whereas Mediatek uses the Arm Mali-G57 MC3.

Realme V5 vs Realme X50 – Mediatek Dimensity 720 vs Snapdragon 765G Antutu Benchmarks

With a total score of 301380, the Realme V5 with the Dimensity 720 does score lower than other 5G chipsets. But this is to be expected, as it is being positioned as affordable, and it is the lowest spec in the 5G Mediatek range.

With this score, the Mediatek is only 7% behind the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G, the SD765G is a superb chipset so you should see superb performance from the new Mediatek.

However, the breakdown of the scores does show some key differences worth noting. The memory score is very high, 9.2% higher than the SD765G, this inflates the total result a little.

The CPU score is 8% lower, which is to be expected looking at the specification differences.

Then the GPU score is 20% behind which is worth considering if you are a gamer or use any GPU intensive applications.

Realme V5 vs Realme X50 Price

Pricing has not been confirmed yet, but a leaked image indicates the Realme v5 with 6 GB RAM + 128 GB will cost 1,699 Yuan (£185/$243).

The Realme X50m, which is the X50 in the UK, costs 2099 Yuan but is currently discounted to 1999 Yuan which is £228 and £217 respectively. This would make the Realme V5 almost 20% cheaper.

Availability

The Realme V5 will launch in China on the 3rd of August, there is no word on a UK launch, but they have been releasing most of the phone internationally recently, so I would expect this to arrive sooner or later.
