As part of the Honor IFA keynote, where the new Honor 70 was announced globally, they announced a new partnership with two AR artists to creatively reimagine an iconic landmark located in Hamburg’s Speicherstadt, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The immersive AR experience will be available for all smartphone users to check out via the free to download ARLOOPA app.

Honor has invested heavily in AI and AR technologies to ensure that its products are ready for the next digital revolution. These innovations include AI Space Identification, Spatial Audio and support for ARCore, to unlock immersive experiences for smartphone users everywhere. As global trends such as hybrid tourism continue to gain traction, these versatile technologies will continue to play key roles in enriching user experiences across various scenarios.

Hybrid Tourism is something that emerged through the pandemic, allowing travellers to satisfy their wanderlust and experience culture and travel from the comfort of their homes. However, with AR you can do more than just experience tourism from home. This can be used to enhance the user experience when travelling. A good example would be using AR as a tour guide, either out in the streets or withing museums and art galleries.

For Honor, using the ARLOOPA app, users can visit the dedicated Honor page and experience the AR artworks on-site in Hamburg, or anywhere in the world. The on-site experience is anchored to the Wasserschloss building, and can be viewed from the Poggenmühlen-Brücke, the bridge opposite the iconic landmark. Users who are not in Hamburg can select “experience on any surface” on the app and follow the on-screen instructions to virtually place the AR experience of their choosing on a flat surface nearby.

As part of this project, Honor has extended the Talents global design contest. It now has a dedicated Interactive AR Artwork category, and is now accepting applications for digital art that transforms local neighbourhoods, including digital overlays for walls, parks, and other public spaces.
