As usual for Garmin, one of the retailers got a bit trigger happy with publishing their product pages and leaked the upcoming Garmin Forerunner 955.

The product listing wasn’t highly detailed it is just the generic marketing blurb, but it does confirm a lot of things.

Garmin Forerunner 955 vs Forerunner 945

There is not a massive change to the featureset, so many people will likely not want or need to upgrade from the already excellent Forerunner 945.

  • Just like the Fenix 7, the new Forerunner 955 will get a touchscreen.
  • The battery gets a moderate upgrade, with the smartwatch going from 14 days to 15, but the GPS performance increasing from 26 to 48 hours.
  • Solar charging can add an extra 5 days for smartwatch mode in ideal conditions. Or 7 hours with basic GPS and 2 hours with all systems GNSS.
  • At least one or both models should have the new multi-band GPS
  • New next level full-colour mapping – but it is not clear exactly what this is yet.
  • HRV status and HRV while you sleep.
  • Increased storage for music
