The Red Magic 6S Pro was announced earlier this week and is the second phone to be announced with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888+, it will also likely be available to buy before the Asus. With a launch price of £519, you are only paying a tenner more than the existing Red Magic 6 Pro. Qualcomm…
I have already reviewed a couple of the affordable multi-gig Zyxel switches that offered a combination of 10Gb SFP & 2.5Gb RJ45 ethernet. At the time, they were the cheapest way to get 2.5GbE in your home. Since then, 2.5GbE appears to be going mainstream. QNAP were the first to launch an affordable 5-port unmanaged…
The Zyxel XGN100C is one of the few affordable 10-gigabit ethernet network cards on the market. The card is based on the Marvell AQtion AQN-107 10 GbE Network Interface Adapter, which is just the new name for the Aquantia AQ107 used on the ASUS XG-C100C now that Marvell has completed their Aquantia acquisition. While 2.5GbE…

Where to buy a Helium Hotspot? UK, EU and US models I had previously recommended Nebra/Pi Supply, but this appears to have turned out to be a bad decision for me. Like many others, I have been waiting months for my order while Bobcat and others have been shipping. I am sure Nebra will get…
Following on from my review of the FS S3150-8T2FP POE switch, I have also been trying out their 10GBASE-T SFP+ transceivers, which allow you to convert the 10 Gb SFP+ ports to 10Gb RJ-45. These transceiver modules are relatively expensive, at £50, compared to a standard 10Gb SFP+ modules, which will set you back around…
FS, formerly Fiber Store, has quickly grown expanding into producing their own networking hardware including switches, access points and even video conferencing solutions. The range of switches is particularily impressive with options starting out at £115 for an 8-port POE switch. It is the higher end stuff that is perhaps more noteworthy, the S5860-24XB-U is…
Page 2 for Best Powerline Wi-Fi extenders & Mesh Systems Before mesh Wi-Fi was the trend, we had Powerline adaptors and Wi-Fi extenders. I would personally always suggest mesh of a Wi-Fi extender nowadays, but I am still a fan of the Powerline concept. Anyone wanting to establish a high speed and relatively reliable connection…
Yesterday, Netgear announced a new top of the range Wi-Fi 6 access point, choosing to go down a different path than competing brands, which could be quite useful for many users. While it is common for many cloud-managed access points to offer mesh Wi-Fi, the are not many, if any, that have a tri-band radio….
I have not reviewed any of the D-Link Wi-Fi 6 gear yet, but they have been launching some incredibly affordable devices that make for an appealing alternative to TP-Link and Netgear. The new whole-home mesh COVR system is the latest Wi-Fi 6 option from them, and it is one of the most affordable Wi-Fi 6…
Yesterday I reviewed the excellent TP-Link Archer AX90. As part of the package, TP-Link sent out their latest Archer RE505X Mesh Wi-Fi Range Extender. These are two of the first devices that support then TP-Link OneMesh technology, allowing you to take a router but expand it into a mesh system rather than using the older…
